Welcome to my exhibition.
I'm a Japanese painter and comic book writer.
Since I visited Goa for the first time more than 20 years ago,
I've been obsessed by the Goan scenery - a lot of coconut trees,
mango trees, interesting houses and so on.
I had my first exhibition of paintings 'Houses of Goa' two years
ago at the open-air gallery 'The Flying Saree' and this year
I'm very pleased to be able to have my second exhibition at Kala Academy in Panaji.
You might find some of my paintings are of famous houses but
my paintings are not so-called portraits of houses. The houses,
famous or not, tell me their stories, so I paint them. I paint
their stories, not a realistic view of the houses, and sometimes
broken houses are painted unbroken.
Many of the houses I've painted are located in Cansaulim and
its environs, simply because they are rather close to my husband's
house.
I'm looking forward to meeting more and more houses and listening
to their stories, and painting them.
It's going to be a long journey ...
I hope you enjoy my paintings.
Thank you.
